Prevalence of Staphylococci Among Dental Staff and Their Antibiotic Resistance Pattern.

Aims: The study aims to estimate the carriage of Staphylococci spp on nares and hands among dental staff their antibiotic resistance pattern. Materials Methods: 100 samples were collected from nose workers (dentists assistants) in teaching hospital College Dentistry, University Mosul period 17th Dec. 2020 9th Feb.2021. isolates diagnosed based phenotypic traits, microscopy, biochemical test, use vitek – 2compact device confirm species, 66 showed that they able ferment mannitol, 32 hands, 34 while other an inability mannitol sugar. All Staphylococcus Gram-positive, catalase 100%, coagulase (18.75%) for hand isolates, (52.9%) nosal isolates. Using 2-compact (40) fermented results as follows (20) Staph.aureus 14; (70%) 6(30%) hand, 5 Staph. lugdunensis ;4 (80%) ,1 (20%) .4 Saprophyticus; 2 (50%) nose, 2(50%) hand,2 hominis; (100%) hand,3 warneri 2;(66.67%) 1(33.33%) one isolate Staph.sciuri 1,(100) Leuconostoc mesenteroides four couldn't diagnose. sensitivity different oxacillin was determined with minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) using vitek2-compact indicates methicillin device. differed where highest percentage each Staph.lugdunensis rate reached 100% followed by 80% then Staph.warneri 66.67% , Staph.hominis 50% Saprophyticus 25% . antibiotics Kirby –Bauer method seven types both at except 50%.
